Starting a local match
Choose a match, give your first orders and check what happened.
Start with a local match#
Choose Duel, Conquest, Locked teams or Realm, then select your culture, colour and bot difficulty. Duel has two rulers; the other modes have four. Duel and locked teams use fixed opponents and disable ordinary agreements. Realm adds public towns, agreements and changing coalitions.
Normal matches use larger, generated temperate maps with lakes, sandy shores, several kinds of grass and harvestable forests. Water blocks movement and construction. Grass, sand and forest soil can be used once any obstructing trees are cleared. The layout gives each ruler room to expand and routes to contested resources and towns. A save or replay keeps the same landscape.
For guided practice, choose Learn to play or Learn Realm. The Realm lesson uses its own map and walks through a Truce, town control, a coalition and the public Dominion victory rule. During a local match you can pause, save and open the reference with F1.
Select one of your villagers and send it to a visible resource. Watch it gather, carry and return its load. Spendable stock rises when resources are deposited. Then use a completed producer to train a unit you can afford. Keep room in your population capacity before adding more units.
Check the result of an order#
An accepted order is waiting to execute. Its later result may still refuse it: the unit may have died, a requirement may have changed, or the stock may already have been spent. Read the reason before trying again. Executed movement begins a journey; it does not promise immediate arrival.
Use order feedback when an action seems missing, and gathering and spending to understand your economy.
