Garrison and release units

Shelter eligible units while preserving their population and carried resources.

Enter an owned shelter#

Eligible foot units can enter your completed Town Hall, Keep or tower when there is room and a reachable entrance. The unit must travel to an entrance; accepting the order does not instantly place it inside. A direct garrison order also stops worker automation.

Contained units still count toward population and retain carried resources. They stop gathering, building, repairing, attacking, capturing and providing sight while sheltered. Garrisoning is not a way to earn resources or extend vision without exposing a unit.

Release and blocked exits#

An exit needs legal space. A blocked exit waits instead of placing units inside an obstacle or another unit. Once released, the unit appears in ordinary world space again. Previously cleared worker automation does not turn itself back on.

If the carrier building is destroyed, the contained units die with it. Sheltering an army concentrates that risk in the carrier; it does not grant invulnerability. The exact own contents and pending exits survive saving and restoring the match.
